Your Contributions Support Film & Community

Your support helps the Ambler's nonprofit mission to bring great cinema and educational events to the community. Making a tax-deductible donation directly supports programs and vital improvements to the theater. There are three major areas you can support the Ambler:

Programming and General Operating

Did you know that 50% of our ticket and concession sales immediately goes out the door to film distributors and suppliers? But 100% of your donation goes directly to ensure the nonprofit Ambler Theater continues the mission to be a welcoming community center and important arts organization. Your gifts go directly to supporting artful programs based on their cultural importance regardles of their box office potential.

Your gifts have a lasting impact on the community:
• They keep film history alive with screenings from all eras of cinema, like the Hollywood Summer Nights Series.
• They ensure an artful, entertaining, thought-provoking cinema, including indie and foreign titles.
• They support film education in our community, including special events, speakers, and seminars.

Replacing our Digital Projectors
$84,000 raised
$168,000 to go!

Phase 2 of our Projection Booth Upgrades We raised the funds in 2025 to replace key technology in the projection booth, however, we still need to replace the projectors themselves. In 2013, theaters nationwide made the mandatory switch to digital projection. The 2K projectors, which typically have a lifespan of about ten years, are now twelve years old. To ensure we can continue presenting the latest releases and newly restored classics in the best possible quality, it’s critical that we replace our aging equipment.

Make a donation to support Educational Programs and Youth Camps. Donations support camp scholarships. These programs are essential to our mission to provide educational experiences for our community and share an opportunity for young minds to explore the art of storytelling and filmmaking.

Film Forever Fund

Your donation will maintain our projectors (in the booth and in our Gallery), train future 35mm projectionists, defray film shipping costs and print rental fees, and ensure that The Ambler will be able to maintain 35mm screenings well into the future.

Are you taking a required
minimum distribution from your IRA?

Contact your financial advisor or the firm holding your IRA or Beneficiary Inherited IRA to request a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD). IRA account holders aged 70½ and older may take tax-free distributions from a Traditional or Beneficiary IRA and donate the amount distributed to an eligible tax- exempt charitable organization. (You may take a QCD from a Roth IRA; however, since these distributions are generally tax-free, the same tax benefits will not accrue. A different means of contributing these monies may be more advantageous to you.)

The Ambler Theater (Ambler Theater, Inc.) is a 501(c)(3) organization qualified to receive these contributions under IRS code. Please ensure that your check payable directly to the Ambler Theater. You may not take receipt of these funds and then issue a personal check for your contribution and qualify for the special tax considerations of the QCD.

The QCD amount can represent all or a portion of your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) for the tax year; or more, should that make sense from a tax and estate planning perspective. The total of all QCDs for a single tax year cannot exceed $100,000 per individual taxpayer. The QCD will be reported by the firm holding your IRA to you and the IRS on Form 1099-R as a normal distribution (Code 7) based on your age. You must document this tax-free qualification to the IRS on your Federal income tax return (Form 1040). Please visit the IRS website, or contact a professional tax advisor for more information. The Ambler Theater will provide you with a letter confirming your contribution, this should be retained with your tax records.
